A Tale of Four Casters

Once upon a time, a 20-something bought a house. She refinished her hardwood floors to a beautiful shine, and she was happy.

The girl had a nice bed, which she put on top of her nicely refinished hardwood floors. She quickly realized that casters and hardwood floors don't mix, because the bed would move whenever she would sit on it. She worried that the casters would dent or scratch the hardwood floors. So she visited her nearest hardware store, and bought some "caster cups" to hold the casters in place.

However, she quickly realized that those caster cups wouldn't work, as the casters completely flattened them, and the casters would roll out of the cups and onto her nice pretty hardwood floors.

She searched high and low for another option, but found nothing. As a last ditch effort, she bought a rug pad to help keep the caster cups in place.

However, the rug pad did nothing to help the problem. The casters rolled out of the caster cups and over the rug pads. The casters even flattened the rug pads.

The girl revisited her hardware store, and found a different set of caster cups and a set of locking casters. However, the caster cups were too small and the locking casters would not fit in the bed frame as they were too small.

Then the girl discovered a different hardware store she had not visited before! It was called Ace, and when she went in, she discovered a whole new world of hardware stores. She was immediately approached by a salesperson, who led her to the section of casters and caster cups. She found the perfect item, and rushed home to put her new caster cups under her bed! Voila! They fit!

The caster cups had a little dip in them that perfectly fit the bed casters, and the rubber grips on the bottom allowed the caster cups to stay in place where the girl had placed her bed. And she lived happily ever after- well, at least, she hopes so. :-)

***It took me 3 months to finally find something that would work for bed casters on hardwood floors... I searched the internet, I asked questions in design communities, but nobody was able to help. My casters do not have locks on them, and I was unable to find casters that would fit on my bed that did have locks on them. Another option I considered was buying a 5x7 size rug to place under the bed that might keep the bed from moving as well.

When I was at the hardware store, I also purchased these as well... because if these two sets of caster cups didn't work, I might have cried.
