Getting a handle on things

I'm trying to finish up my kitchen, though with great difficulty, because I'm waiting for my screws for the microwave to come in. Besides that, I just have a few finishing touches to add to make it seem more like home. That and, of course, scrape all the paint off the wainscoting.

One of the finishing touches I need is cabinet handles for the cabinets and drawer pulls for the drawers. I would prefer to go without, because I have great difficulty with the idea of drilling holes into that beautiful wood. However, since the bottom cabinets are previously owned, they already have handles in them and therefore holes. I need to use those holes (which, might I add, is damn near impossible since they are 62mm) and therefore, I need handles in the top cabinets too. Can't have mismatching cabinets! No way!

My first instinct was to use brushed nickel pulls for the doors, since the appliances are stainless steel, the fan has brushed nickel on it, the doorknob is brushed nickel, the faucet is brushed nickel... you get the picture. I like brushed nickel and stainless steel. The bathroom has the same problem. :-)

I'm not sure the problem is the knob itself, or the color, but I'm totally not feeling this... Please ignore the fact that the door is sitting on the floor- it hasn't been put up yet!



As I said, I'm not sure what I don't like about it, but I don't. I love the knob itself, just not on my cabinet! Do I need a different type of knob? Something thicker? Not sure. A friend suggested I get something darker, since I don't do gold. So I was browsing at Target when I realized their knobs were on clearance. Yay Target clearance!

This particular knob is "venetian bronze" in color. This actual knob isn't technically my style, but then again, neither are the cabinets. It fits the style of the cabinets more than MY style, I think.

For the drawers, I found these cool cup handles. The best part? They are 62mm, so they fit the drawers perfectly! My cabinets look a little rough because I have to refinish them to match the upper cabinets. I've started sanding a few of them.

The question is... do I like these two pulls together? I know I like the cup handle, but I'm not sure how I feel about it with the other type of handle.

This is another handle that is very similar in style, but slightly different. Wonder if it might look better? Wonder if I could FIND it!



These were the ones I really liked, but they didn't have any, of course. Damn clearance. (They didn't look this light in the store!)



I saw these there as well and thought they were really cute. They would go great in an older kitchen or bathroom or something, maybe? Not really my kitchen style, and the wrong color, but beautiful none the less!


I'm trying to figure this all out! It's not as easy as it seems! I'm going to keep looking until I find the perfect handles, because dammit, this is my house and I have to live here! :-) It will be perfect!
