So you can imagine my dismay when I came across this beautiful fabric at JoAnn Fabrics about a month ago. I was browsing to my hearts content, and then I found it. I loved it enough to take a picture, because I was determined to find a use for it. It was a beautiful 54 inch linen blend. *SIGH* I really love linen for some reason, and black and white was just perfect. Yes, I fully realize that I have issues.
I apologize for the crappy quality- I took the picture with my camera phone.

I even showed it to my mom, because I wanted her to see that beautiful fabric! But I really had no idea what to do with it, because I already have pillows for my bed, and I have curtains for my room.
Then, a few weeks ago, I was shopping at IKEA with my mom when we came across their Kvartal system. She suggested using it on the closets in my house, which at first I did not react favorably to. I didn't like the panel curtains IKEA carried- as a matter of fact, I don't like panel curtains at all. Then I remembered that fabric. So I bought the stuff to hang up the rail, the rail itself, and the clips that would go on the rail and took them home with me. I couldn't wait to go to JoAnn Fabrics and buy that fabric! However, when I got to my store, they didn't have enough of the fabric! I was crushed, and there is only one store in my city, so it wasn't like I could go shopping around. I called my mom and asked her to check her store. They had two bolts of the fabric (!) and even better, my mom had recently received a coupon for JoAnn Fabrics in her email. 20% off your entire purchase, including sale products! SCORE!
My mom sewed up the edges for me, and this is what my new "closet doors" look like!

I LOVE it! I seriously keep walking into my room just to look at my new curtains. I think it really compliments my bedspread, which has very subtle stripes, and it looks great with my blue walls. It's so soft looking too. I just LOVE it! What a great idea my mom had! She thinks I should put a rod in the bottom to make it stiff, but I really like the way it flows. So I'm going to leave it just like that! I'm waiting for my dad to come down, cause I'm going to make him cut off the excess rod for the curtains. :-) Then it will really be perfect!
Oh, and the best part? My mom is also going to make me a matching shade for my window! :-) I'm so excited!
Isn't it so nice to actually see something that looks nice for a change? I've posted so many pictures of my dirty house, I'm just so happy to post something pretty!
Speaking of my ugly house, I came across this site today and I really would LOVE to submit some of my "before" pictures to the site! http://uglyhousephotos.com The commentary cracks me up, and I can't believe people let their houses look like this! You should totally check it out!
