Bathroom, sweet bathroom...

I've been so busy actually working on my house that I have no time to post pictures and blog entries, except for the few I posted on Facebook. I finally got around to doing a few this morning...

I am so close to finishing my bathroom, I can almost taste it! I just have a few things left to do before it's "finished." I put finished in quotes because it will never be finished... and someday, I'd love to put in new tile! But that's probably just a pipe dream... so we'll see. I just hate the brown tile, as I hate most browns, and would love to see it go away! My inspiration for this bathroom was very limited because of my absolute loathing of the color... but here's what I've got so far!

My parent's neighbors, The K's, had to redo their bathroom, because Mrs. K's dad was coming to live with them. They put in a walk in shower stall, a pedestal sink, and got a pair of new stackable washer and dryer. Because of all this, they got rid of a lot of their old stuff... an old bathroom vanity that was replaced by the pedestal sink, and the washer and dryer. Mrs. K's dad also ended up buying them a new fridge because they had done so much work to let him live there. They gave me their old bathroom vanity, which is much bigger than the previous vanity, and their old fridge. My mom got the washer and dryer, which are less than 2 years old, and belonged to the daughter, T. Sadly, though, Mrs. K's dad only lived in the house a month before he passed away... he was 91, I believe.

Anyway... my dad put in the new bathroom vanity and took down the ugly old bathroom light! :-) This is before the bathroom was painted. Check out my ghetto shower curtain...

Then he took out the mirror from the old bathroom light and ghetto-hung it on the wall. :-) He also brought me their old bathroom light and spray painted it silver. I love free!

He also bought me a new faucet for the bathroom! :-)

While he was there, he took down the vent in the bathroom that went across the shower and fixed the holes in the wall.

I finally got to paint my bathroom the most beautiful blue color in the world! (The actual color is closer to the color in the second picture.)

Added a few accessories... The toilet paper is in a cheapo Old Time Pottery basket, and the two small shelves came from a secondhand store. I can't wait to get something to cover the closet doors, though!

I also hung up my new shower curtain and laid out my new bathmat. The bathroom looks much better than the before!

Left on the bathroom to do list:
Paint the area over the sink after the holes are filled in
Clean all the paint/tools out of the bathroom so I can have my bathroom back!
Replace the light switch
Get the old paint/rust off the register cover and repaint
Buy/make a new curtain or blinds for the window and throw away the old one!
Decorate!
